September in a Lovely Year of Finishes~

I am really glad Katie Q pointed me in this direction.
Melissa and Shanna's monthly project has been a great motivator
to get projects finished!

This month I am happy to have my Dreamy quilt done!

I am happy with the scrappy back and really like the record it provides.
It will help me to remember what fabrics were in the line.

I tried washing and drying the quilt once I finished the binding.
It really makes the "Sticky Bun" quilting pattern show up!

This will be a bright spot on cloudy winter days.

I hope you stop by and check out the other great finishes.....

Work In Progress...Getting Closer~

Right before I left on my trip I found out that my favorite Long-arm Quilters
could do a top for me while I was in Oregon.

Since I always worry about mailing large pieces, I decided to take advantage
of her willingness!
The back was finally finished two hours before the jet left.

This is the first scrappy back I have ever done, and it was a learning experience.
It has at least one sample of every fabric in the Good Morning line!
I kind of love that...

June and John did a fantastic job (as usual) lining me up and making their
stitches look fantastic.
Now I just have to finish the binding.....

A Lovely Year of Finishes~

Remember the Dreamy quilt top?
I really want it finished..
One project finished so I can start something new.

So, in September I am making that my goal.
To complete the Dreamy quilt.....

An August Finish~

Yay!!

I am so glad to finish
and have this stocking ready for hand-delivery.

Maybe I am more excited about seeing
Miss Sweetness and her parents in person?

I hope she enjoys it for years and years!

All tied up in flannels.....

The Quilt Photography Workshop~

My camera takes wonderful pictures.
I set it on auto, point, shoot,
and usually I am lucky to have a good one!

But.....
I really want to learn to take better pictures,
with a little more control of how they turn out.

Plum and June

So, I am working on a little bit each month...

August's theme:  Fabric ~

I chose to take them outside near a friend's flowers.
All are the same 55mm lens and 100 ISO.
The clouds kept alternating with sunshine, which changed things a bit.

All Auto f/5.6 1/125 sec
Then I tried the camera in manual options with auto focus..

f/3.2 1/320
fading out with too much exposure

f/2.5 1/400
even more faded..

f/4 1/125
Better?

Up close f/2.8 1/250

 f/2.8 1/250
Added a little manual focus here..

A view from the top f/5.6 1/125

These fabrics are all from IKEA.
I had no idea they had such fun ones!
Still need to work on the shooting though.

Twenty-one photos.....

Wednesday Making Progress~

I am happy to be making progress on this little piece.

I have known what pattern I wanted to use for a while,
but picking out fabric was a challenge.
I do like it so far!
