February's Lovely Year of Finishes..Finish~

At the beginning of the month I decided that a lens bag
would be my goal in February
for Melissa and Shanna's LYOF.

After thinking about what it needed to be able to do,
this is what I came up with.

I gave it a square bottom to stand up,
a little loop to lift it with,
and two layers of Soft and Stable padding.

It also has a waterproof sleeve inside to keep
things dry,
cordura on the ends to protect from abrasion,
and a zipper closure.

It was a fun little experiment.

The Iditarod is starting March 1st.  Those dogs and all of the happenings
 will give us
a great chance for this little baby's test run.....

Check out what everyone else was working on this month.....

Weekend Doings~

This was a good week for sewing while a so-so time for pictures.

After getting over the "making up my mind" obstacle,
I am making progress on a few sewing projects
with my favorite machine!

Happy stitching.....

Happy Camper~

I was excited to receive an email from Shanna letting me know that
I was a winner for December's Lovely Year of Finishes!!
Shanna and Melissa host the annual project-a-long.
My prize was a Moda Fat Quarter Bundle!!
I have never had an entire bundle before...

You may have guessed it was a HaPPy, haPPy surprise!

The lovely line is called Glamping by MaryJane
of MaryJane Farms in Moscow, Idaho!

In years past I subscribed to her magazine, purchased food supplies from her,
and visited her store.
I didn't realize she was also creating fabrics.
That all made the surprise gift even sweeter for me.

I don't know when I will be able to cut into the fabrics,
but I sure appreciate the treat
of looking at the colorful stack each day!

Thanks again Katie Q, Shanna and Melissa!!

Remember, it isn't too late to start in 2014.....

A Little Hex-a-Long~

I was testing out a white background for this set of hexes,
and playing in the snow.

I have four different EPP projects going.
They are so easy to pack up and take along!

Can we say "Addictive".....

Color Adventure~

My friend, Tammy, and I have embarked on a new
adventure.

It is different than anything we have done before.

Each month we will make two identical blocks
using Kona Solids

and a 12" pattern of our choice.

We both have sewn for years,
but this was a bit of a stretch and, surprisingly,
very intimidating for us both!

One of the monthly blocks will be mailed
by the end of each month to each other.
A Deadline.....

This block of mine was sealed and flew away.

Then, one lucky day this block arrived in my mailbox!

I was so excited, I hung it right up for a picture,
without even pressing out the fold.

It made me laugh when I opened the envelope and saw Tammy's work.
I think think this is going to be a great adventure
together.....

February Goal~

For my birthday I was given a wonderful new lens.
It works really well, and I love it.

But, when I go places, I am concerned about damaging it
because I don't have a case to fit.

In February I am going to change that!

My goal for this month is to create a padded case
to protect the lens.
